Heaven Sent

A Grandmother’s Words of Love and Loss

Written from a grandmother’s heart, for her daughter, after the loss of her babies who will forever be held in their hearts.

Heaven Sent

Heaven Sent from up above,
sweet little babies, surrounded by love.

And for a brief moment, mom kisses her babe;
her tears of joy fading swiftly away.

The depth of her sorrow—a mom’s greatest fear;
her babe in her arms, ne’er again will she hear.

The moments of life have passed this day;
her babe in the grave, she now must lay.

As days turn to months, and months turn to years,
this mother still sheds love’s precious tears.

Other babies were born, and her happiness grew;
but the pain of the one still pierces her through.

Heartbroken and torn, this mother has faith;
her dear little baby will one day awake.

She passes through life, and her time draws near;
she’s happy she’ll soon hold her sweet little dear.

Heaven sent her an angel, the sorrow so great;
now the dawn breaks, and her angel awaits.

To part is not sweet sorrow, as said;
she knew that the day she laid down his wee head.

Her family will mourn, their sadness anew;
fear not—for in Heaven, they rejoice, these two.
